Shunned, black balled, and kicked to the curb these are all term that describe the treatment of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, a professional football player that once lit up highlight reels and score boards but now had been relegated to a position as a martyr in the battle against racial injustice the United States continues to fight. I can recall Kaepernick and his highlights being shown all over social media along with the internet trend that was birthed from the same vein as the ever-popular Tebow pose called “Kaepernicking”. The pose consisted Kaepernick kissing your own bicep in celebration of touchdowns, just as Tebow did with his kneel only with the added benefit of being cool because Kaepernick had tattoos.
